Vancouver Airport
Flights from London Heathrow to Vancouver land at Vancouver International Airport. The airport is the second largest in Canada, after Toronto Pearson, handling over seventeen million passengers a year onto four runways and four terminals. For those travelling onward to destinations in the USA, the airport is one of eight in Canada featuring US border pre- clearance, making for a quicker check in process. The airport’s growth has largely been down to the growth in traffic to East Asia over the last thirty years.

Parking facilities in and around Vancouver Airport
The airport has four separate parking areas available. There is standard long and short term parking available reasonably close to the terminals which is self-service and offers open and covered facilities. There is an ‘economy lot’, located about five minutes walk away from the terminals at a much reduced rate, and conversely a valet service to take passengers straight to the edge of the terminal buildings, left in a secure lock up with no reservation. Additionally, long stay parking is available further off site, with a free shuttle bus, and can be used for stays of at least four days.

Airport distance from Vancouver and other notable surrounding locations
The airport is located at Sea Island, Richmond, little more than ten miles from central Vancouver itself. A short drive from the airport is the Richmond Centre Shopping Mall and the Gateway Theatre and there are several hotels located adjacent to the airport.

Transport links to Vancouver
There are public buses available to the airport, departing from outside the Delta Hotel (route 496 from central Vancouver). A shuttle bus (number 424) operates to take passengers from this station to outside the terminal that takes domestic flights. There is also a scheduled bus service to central Vancouver from the Domestic Terminal and from the International Terminal, departing every half hour from around 8 am until 9.30 pm. Discounted return and family tickets are available for this service, although it is not necessary to reserve a seat.
