Doha International Airport

Doha International Aiport is the main point of entry for passengers visiting the Middle Eastern Emirate of Qatar. As the only airport in Qatar, Doha International Airport is a hive of activity, with business and leisure travellers from across the globe passing through the aiport each day. Passengers traveling from London to Doha will find the airport well-equipped to meet their needs, with a wealth of shops, restaurants, bank facilities, duty-free area and ? this being an Arab Emirate ? three mosques. The airport is currently being revamped at a cost of around US$140 million ? the work will modernise and expand the airport to allow for 7.2 million passengers annually. However, by 2015, flights will fly in and out of a brand new International Aiport, which is currently under construction at a cost of US$2 billion. The new airport will lie to the south of the current airport and will handle all national and international air traffic.

Parking facilities in and around Doha International Airport

Busy but compact, Doha International is fairly well-equipped in terms of parking. Passengers aboard flights from Heathrow to Doha can take advantage of 60 spaces for short-term parking, and 600 spaces for long-stay parking, located outside the departures and arrivals terminals. The long-term parking facility is covered and has been designed to protect vehicles from the intense Qatar heat and sun.

Airport Distance to Doha Town

Passengers aboard flights from London Heathrow to Doha will find the aiprort is situated just 12 kilometres southeast from Doha town, around 15 minutes drive along clearly signposted roads. Many city centre hotels provide free airport transfer for their guests.

Transport Links to Doha

Although bus services run in Doha, these tend to be hot, uncomfortable and not particularly safe for tourists and business travellers. Taxis are a more practical form of transport for foreign visitors, being affordable and widely available. The official metered taxis of Doha are white and orange, and are available just outside Doha International Aiport. A limousine service is also available to passengers departing flights to Doha.

Qatar receives many business visitors, often travelling on flights from Heathrow to Doha, and the Emirate’s international airport is well-equipped to meet their needs. There are two VIP lounges with free WiFi Internet access, as well as a conference room with audio-visual facilities. A dedicated Premium Class terminal, which opened in 2006, is available to Business Class and First Class passengers aboard Qatar Airways flights, and offers conference rooms alongside luxury lounges, shops, restaurants and spas.
