London Heathrow to Zurich Flights
Heathrow Airport
Having begun life as a privately-owned test flight area before World War II, it was not until the 1950s that Heathrow gained any significant permanent structures. With five terminals now running and approaching capacity, it is unsurprising that further expansion is planned for the future in the world’s busiest international airport.
Airlines flying to Zurich
Flights from London Heathrow to Zurich are currently offered by British Airways and Swiss International Airlines. Swiss International offer around 20 flights per week, whilst British Airways currently offer around 25 flights per week.
Zurich Airport
Zurich Airport is Switzerland’s largest airport, and despite Switzerland’s relatively small population, is significant by international standards, handling over 20 million passengers a year. The airport expanded in 2003, and further improvement work to the terminal buildings is planned over the next three years.
Parking facilities in and around Zurich Airport
The airport has three on-site multi storey car parks, giving a total capacity of around 6000 spaces. There are three further car parks, slightly further away, which offer reduced charges for a slightly longer walk. Parking is free for the first hour to those making flights to Zurich and spending more than CHF60 on food and gifts at outlets in the shops. A valet parking service operated by Europcar is available at the airport.
Airport distance from Zurich and other notable surrounding locations
The airport is located in the town of Kloten, which is a town of 17,000 around thirty minutes drive from the city of Zurich. There are nearby chalets and the airport itself has publicly accessible observation decks for tourists. Guided bus and walking tours of the airport are available and surprisingly popular. In addition, it is possible to book private scenic flights in a five person helicopter or plane, offering some of the best views of the surrounding area you may have missed on your flight.
Transport links to Zurich
Because of the importance of flights to Zurich for Switzerland in general, the airport has its own station, and services operate between Zurich city centre and the airport every ten minutes, each journey taking only ten minutes to arrive. Buses serving the local region are operated by VBG, to Zurich-Oerlikon Glattal and Winterthur, leaving around every twenty minutes. The bus station is to the rear of car parks two and three, and is sign posted from the shopping centre. Hotel buses and taxis can be caught from outside of arrival areas one and two.

There is now a hotel linking directly to the airport owned by Radisson, which features 23 private meeting rooms, and 650 square metres of open meetings space is available, divisable into two or four separate areas, as well as a foyer area. On top of this, the hotel features 1200 square metres of conference space located on the top floor of the building, featuring an excellent view of the airport and surrounding area. All facilities feature fully networked equipment and presentation hardware.
