Air France Facts
Air France are one of the world’s largest airlines, operating 820 flights per day and employing over 60,000 people. The headquarters lie slightly to the north of Paris. Air France is a subsidiary of Air France KLM that operates independently but is coordinated with KLM to provide a strong service. Air France flies to 180 destinations across the world and has a fairly young fleet of over 380 aircraft with an average age of 9 years. Air France is also part of SkyTeam, this is an airline alliance that provides many flights and services to members.

Air France History
Air France was established in 1933 as a result of a merger. In 1945 French airlines were nationalised and AirFrance controlled all air transport. In the 1950s Air France focused on hitting new heights in the level of service it provided, gourmet meals and private cabins were provided to give some added luxury. Air France added many more destinations throughout the 1960s including West Africa and many Asian destinations. In 2000, Air France joined the SkyTeam alliance and in 2003 merged with KLM.

Air France provides a variety of flights leaving from Paris Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. In Europe, AirFrance flies to a wide range of destinations within each country. This includes many domestic flights within France, all major British airports, Dublin and Shannon in Ireland, many different Spanish destinations and a range of Eastern European, Scandinavian and Italian locations. Air France flies to many African destinations including Lusaka in Zambia, Johannesburg in South Africa, the popular tourist destination of Dakar in Senegal and many more. Air France provides a range of flights to different locations within Asia. Highlights include the fascinating Shanghai, Beijing, the site of the 2008 Olympics, Beijing, the exotic city of Hanoi in Vietnam and Bangkok in beautiful Thailand.

If you wish to travel to the US there are many options to choose from, there are routes from Paris to many American cities. Highlights are Chicago, Washington, Seattle, Atlanta and Los Angeles. There are also flights to the Canadian cities of Vancouver and Montreal. South American destinations include Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago. Some of the most beautiful holiday destinations lie in the Caribbean, Air France flies to Havana, Fort de France and Punta Cana amongst others. Air France operates flights to Middle Eastern locations including the architecturally stunning Tel Aviv, Istanbul and the modern paradise that is Dubai. Finally there are flights available to destinations in the Indian Ocean and some in Oceania.
